Frequently Asked Questions
Question 1: What if I don't have time to run a program like this?
The Peacemaker Pathway does take 9-10 weeks to lay the foundations and train students, and another 7-8 weeks until the students are settled and proactively running the program. But, once the program is up and running and the students are given the ownership, you can expect students to proactively manage up to 15 mediations in a single week, and many dozens of hours of mediation time each year, year after year.
Question 2: Will my administration/teachers/staff support this?
We give you built-in tools to present the program to any school staff and to show measurable outcomes. We'll walk through the program with your administration to make sure that there's buy-in from the start, and help to make the whole school feel a part of this culture-changing program.
Question 3: What if I get stuck?
Our curriculum is designed to help school leaders and program coordinators at each step along the way, but if you do get stuck we have regular coaching calls to help answer any questions and provide direction, as well as a community of other Peacebuilders who will jump at the chance to help out!
Question 4: I’m not sure my students are ready to take on something this serious.
That’s a valid concern, and exactly why our training is built with middle schoolers in mind. The Peacemaker Pathway doesn’t assume students are ready on day one. It scaffolds their growth along with your growth, and we've seen it work with middle schoolers and we are confident it will work with yours. We’ve seen incredible success with students who had prior behavior issues or struggled with self-regulation - because being trusted as a mediator becomes a turning point.

We started MediatorSPARK to reduce violence and restore relationships in schools. Given Samuel's experience leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports in a middle school setting, we knew we'd do this by equipping school leaders to empower the next generation of Peacemakers, through peer mediation.
